Protective Devices and Systems

Technological progress and the degree of complexity of machinery make using efficient protective devices and systems essential. Such systems include electrical devices, light curtains, laser scanners, two-hand control devices, pressure sensitive devices, etc., as well as safety-related elements of control systems with which the devices are connected.

The Institute's activities:

  • development of the principles of determining critical safety levels in systems responsible for safety functions in machinery and other manufacturing devices
  • evaluation of construction solutions of machine control systems with respect to guaranteed safety level
  • providing guidelines related to the way of selecting, positioning in relation to danger zones and connecting protective devices to the control systems of machinery and production lines, depending on the results of risk assessment
  • expert opinions on compliance of protective devices and machine control systems with the requirements of safety-related standards and regulations.
